Darasa la ujasiriamali likiwa linakelekea mwisho kabisa ili kuwapata wajasiramali 10 walio fanya vizuri katika kuandika andiko la bishara. Walimu na wataalamu wa biashara wanafanya jitihada za kila hali kuhakikisha wanafunzi wanakuwa wajasiriamali kweli waliofunzwa na kuelewa mbinu za kuwa wajasiriamali ambao wataweza kukabiliana na changamoto katika biashara zao.

Darasa hili la ujasiriamali lilianzia chuoni JRIIT, ambapo jumla walikuwa wanafunzi 145, lakini mpaka sasa tunaendelea na wanafunzi 20 ambao wameonesha nia ya kuwa wajariamali, pia katika hawa 10 bado watachujwa kulingana na ubora wa andiko lao la biashara (business plan)  ambazo wamekuwa wakifundishwa kuandika.

Kuna vijana ambao walianza darasa bila hata wazo la biashara lakini mpaka sasa wameshapata wazo na kuanza kujaribisha biashara. Vijana wameweza kujiamini na kusimama mbele ya watu kuelezea biashara zao, pia kuweza kuelezea mpango wa fedha wa mwaka mzima katika biashara zao ambazo wengine wameanza na wengine wanatarajia kuanza,

Entrepreneurship Bridge Program

KAKUTE entrepreneurship bridge program at JR Institute of Technology (JRIIT, which is sponsored by Australian High commissioner. This program is run through training, were targeted group are JRIIT students. On the opening day (24th of April, 2019) of this training they attended over 150 students and seemed interested and enjoyed the opportunity of being in that class

The training is run by a team from KAKUTE together with the JR teachers, where by the main goal of this program is to make graduates realize the opportunities around them, and make them think more to employ themselves rather than to be employed.

At the end of this class, 10 students who will have a better business idea and also collect their well-written business plan will be given funding to develop and promote their business. They will also be helped to register their business in the relevant authorities.

Launch of the Access to Energy Institute – First collaborative research and development platform in the solar off-grid industry

The launch of the Access to Energy Institute was announced by its founder, Thomas Gottschalk, jointly with its four funders, the IKEA Foundation, DOEN Foundation, Good Energies Foundation and the Dutch development bank FMO.

The A2EI is a new organization form in the access to energy space. The A2EI strives to become the first charitable and collaborative research and development platform in the solar offgrid industry.

Millions of households have been equipped with innovative solar solutions developed by the fast growing solar home system industry. However, productive use appliances and larger solar solutions that can empower small businesses and small scale agriculture, create jobs and generate income are still mostly missing. The team at A2EI, which is composed of seasoned solar offgrid pioneers and based both in Berlin and Arusha, is convinced that a non-for-profit and co-development environment, in which commercial returns are not the main rationale, is ideal to invent/develop, build and pilot these solutions.

Next to own R&D projects, the A2EI is putting its technical, personnel and financial resources to the disposition of entrepreneurs who may need a nurturing environment to get from the ideation to the execution phase.

The intellectual property developed within and together with the A2EI will be accessible to the whole sector. Sharing innovation rather than privatizing it seems a prerequisite to foster a much faster adoption and scaling of solar solutions in order to achieve the sustainable development goal number 7 from the United Nations “access to energy for all”.

The team around Thomas Gottschalk will strive to forcefully make the point that collaboration can be an important complement to the innovation which emanates from competition. Together with entrepreneurs, inventors, researchers and customers, the A2EI believes it can be much faster when it comes to building the much needed solar generators, solar welding machines, solar agricultural tools and machines, solar cooling solutions and many more.

KAKUTE Bridge Program

The KAKUTE Bridge program, in partnership with the JR Institute of Information technology (JRIIT) will bring this formal entrepreneurship training syllabus to students studying technical trades who are ideal candidates for business startups.


Connecting the brightest graduates with partnered business accelerators, the Bridge program will become a mechanism for sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction.

The plan

4 phase entrepreneur and business incubation program:

  • Awareness campaign: including student ambassadors, promotional material (posters) etc.
  • Business plan competition: to be submitted in soft/ hard copy at COB WS2
  • Five practical workshops culminating in product exhibition with potential customers
  • KPCL Bridge Program; the KAKUTE business incubation program.

Expected outcome:

  • 260 JRIIT students Improved understanding of entrepreneurship fundamentals and the culture that exists in starting a new business.
  • 150 candidates: expression and definition of business ideas through completion of business plans
  • 10 male and 10 female entrepreneurs: Further define business concepts through business incubation, additional entrepreneurship training
  • 10 entrepreneurs Graduates of the Bridge program receive intensive mentorship and are introduced to our partner accelerator Twende.

KAKUTE Takwimu Vijijini

KAKUTE Takwimu Vijijini is a youth-driven market research platform for medium and large FMCGs to conduct competitive and trend analysis of rural markets through quantitative small business information.

As a social enterprise organization, we are creating a network of youth in rural villages across Tanzania, connecting youth-led organizations to the data they need to make strategic decisions in providing their products and services.

Our network of youth data collectors are empowered by innovative tools that function offline, instantaneously reward survey completion, automate survey verification and ensure quality.

Our approach creates youth employment opportunities, while also increasing the quality of data collected through the deep contextual understanding and existing community relationships of our young, local data collectors.

Takwimu Vijijini unlocks market information at the village, ward and district level enabling businesses, NGOs and governments to make better decisions. We do this through a network of data collectors, smart tools, open-data principles, and collaborative partnerships. The data collection, dashboard, and open data are supported by business, NGO and government stakeholders’ paid access to high-resolution market data. For many youth entrepreneurs, there is a short window of time in which narrowing their solution or choosing the right location for their operations, determines the sustainability of their business. By partnering with youth networks, we are disseminating the market data to youth entrepreneurs to inform their decisions and increase their access to the market.

We are currently in our pilot phase running out data collection in a single district in the Arusha region. During this pilot, we will be field testing our data collection tools, and our network of youth data collectors to produce meaningful, trustworthy datasets that empower organizations to make data-driven strategic decisions. The pilot is being generously funded by Data Local Impact Innovation Challenge (DLIIC) under there Window 3 grant.

AVI in collaboration with KAKUTE

In collaboration with AVI, KAKUTE Projects Company Limited (KPCL) is pleased to announce the first Australian Volunteer commenced working in the Arusha offices on June 02nd, 2018.

Simon Carr will be assisting KPCL in improving financial management systems, forming strategic partnerships and Program M&E. Simon arrives in Arusha from Melbourne, Australia and has a background in business analytics in the technology industry.

From United Nations departments and international NGOs, through to grassroots organisations, universities, local Governments, hospitals and private enterprises – Australian Volunteers provide expert assistance to those who will benefit the most. Over 60 years, Australian Volunteers International (AVI) has supported 2,500 Overseas Partner Organisations with locally qualified staff working closely with each organisation to identify where Australian expertise could assist to develop local capacity.

Volunteers work with overseas organisations who are driving their own change where AVI can enhance their efforts to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods. The impacts are often realised long after the volunteering assignment has completed as it is a process requiring lifelong bonds to be formed and whole world views to be changed.

Australian volunteers come from all walks of life. The demographics, expertise and motivations of international volunteers vary greatly however it is expected that volunteers are degree qualified with relevant industry experience and the unique personal competencies to ensure a successful overseas assignment. Training and mentoring is the key objective of every volunteer assignment with a strong commitment to developing the capacity of others and working in a team. Volunteers are typically those who are curious about other cultures. They are open to learning as much as they will teach. People with great enthusiasm or experience working cross-culturally.
